A brief photo set of Widget being bored. People seem to think that bunnies don’t have a lot of personality. Mine does—he’s bored. Mind you, he has tons of toys, a huge pen, and gets lots and lots of playtime. This is a spoiled rabbit. Still, at every available opportunity, he’s bored.

Parting.

Today is Widget’s last day with his boy bits. I feel like I should tell the lil’ guy to get all the licking he ever wanted to do done. But, y’know, is it better for him to have that memory for the rest of his days, or is it better for him to continue in blissful ignorance?

Ah, decisions, decisions.

Things are easier with girl bunnies. They don’t seem to think they’re missing out. Actually they kind of approach the whole spay business with a general attitude of “Meh.”

Hi guys. So, I’m sure everyone is glued to televisions, news feeds and the like. I certainly am.  Sometimes it’s too much and you need a peaceful distraction. Here is Widget for you. Sometimes you just need a soft fluffy thing to look at to feel a little peace. If you are stuck wherever you are or need further distraction, here are a few links to some lovely classic reads from Project Gutenberg. These are things that have always made me smile, or at the very least allowed me to escape for a little while. Free and digitized, because that’s how Project Gutenberg works. The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery My Man Jeeves, P.G. Wodehouse The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett The Time Machine, H.G. Wells A Room With a View, EM Forster The Arabian Nights: Their Best Known Tales Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland, Lewis Carroll Sketches New and Old, Mark Twain (contains The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, which I remember loving) Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson Dracula, Bram Stoker (while not cheery, it’s enthralling, a favorite of mine, and people generally benefit from epistolary novels) The Devil’s Dictionary, Ambrose Bierce Robinson Crusoe, Daniel Defoe (for a total rethinking of this tale  try out J.M. Coetzee’s Foe — still under copyright, so no, not a free read, but this writing is… wow. It’s a short, beautiful read that turns everything on its ear.) I hope everyone is safe and taken care of. Here. Look at Baby Widget while I tell you something completely unrelated. I’ve started using the Zombies Run! app on my phone. It’s highly satisfying. It’s kind of impossible not to experience unmitigated joy running to CCR’s Born On the Bayou while slashing imaginary zombies with imaginary machetes. Or something. The amount of total badass I felt really can’t be measured. All I need is a crossbow and the dead are going down. I am Runner 5. Fear me. The dude on the next treadmill does. I’m not gonna lie, Widget is on a chewing tear. He woke us up at about 3:30 in the morning gnawing on the rainbow ramp up to the top of his hutch, then his hutch, then the pen itself. He’s started trying to dig up the fleece pad we line his pen with. So, yeah, he’s not in the best mood.

We put the lil’ guy up on the bed with us this morning and he didn’t even try to eat the duvet cover (his standard M.O.). He just sat there looking confused and dejected, so something’s up.

My last bun used to freak out during lightning storms. That was the only time she’d really nip anybody.  This lil’ guy hasn’t been through any major storms yet, so we’re just waiting to see how he’ll react.  So far his response is “MUST CHEW EVERYTHING IN ORDER TO SAVE THE WORLD!!!”
